In the Pits...

Why were we in the pits?
Thanks to Farm American and Furniture Row Racing,
we were in the pits at Talladega Superspeedway!

We were their featured farm family for this week! (Read more about that here!)

This is us with our tour guide Charlie!

We got to hang around the #78 race hauler and the garage area before the race. We saw drivers, crew members, and team owners, and watched cars go through pre-race inspection.

Check out Clint Bowyer's #15! Roll Tide!

Even the crew had their houndstooth hats!

We got to stand on pit road before the race. Check out all those gauges and switches! No way would I be allowed to drive, haha.
Here's Charlie on tire duty. He's checking air pressures.

We got to sit on the pit box during the race. The pit box is where the crew chief and other team members sit. There are tons of computers and tvs with race data on them.

Unfortunately, the #78's motor expired before lap 20. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted!

A Little Trip to Daytona....

We visited Daytona Beach, FL this past weekend....
But it wasn't for the ocean...
 It wasn't for the lighthouses...
And it wasn't for fancy welcome signs.
It was for the Daytona 500!
And to welcome back the best driver ever, Brian Vickers!  If you don't know why I'm welcoming him back...check out this article!
We got to walk around the garage area...
and little did we know it, but we watched the future Daytona 500 Champion go through inspection!
We watched some interviews (this would be Darrell Waltrip in some, um, interesting sunglasses)
and I got to sign the start/finish line!
Guess what I wrote? I'm sure Brian saw it all 160 laps he raced. Unfortunately, the race is 200 laps, lol.
Also got to see Brad Paisley in concert before the race!
The race was pretty good, lots of weird two by two racing, which had never been seen before...
and a buncha wrecks. One of which was "The Big One" that happened on lap 29.
Guess who was in it? You can sum up how his day went by looking at the progression of the #83 on the side of his car. Above is the way it's supposed to look.
Now here it is made with orange tape.
Um, now most of that orange tape is missing...

Anyways, Welcome Back Brian!
And congratulations to Trevor Bayne, youngest winner in Daytona 500 history!

Giveaway Winner!

Today is the big day! I want to thank everyone for participating in my very first giveaway! I've already thought of some more things I can give away in the future, so I will definitely be doing some more! I can see that yall are drooling with anticipation over those dill pickle chips and Grapico, so lets get on with it!

I could've used that fancy thing online that will somehow pick the winner of your blog giveaway, but with dialup, using pen, paper, and a bowl is much quicker!

Plus, how could I have had such wonderful help from Henry if I did it online? Henry was my game show assistant, so move over Vanna White, meet "Banana White!" (Haha, hehe). Ok Henry, you're up!

Um, we seem to be having some technical difficulties. Henry seems to be bobbing for apples instead of drawing the winner. Maybe he could use a little help.

Thanks Lance.

And the winner is....

What?? You think I could pick a winner without building up suspense first?? Tv shows go to commercial, I'm gonna show you some of my Bristol pics...

Here's the outside of the track...

The cars waiting on the race to start...

And my favorite driver/last week's race winner, Brian Vickers!

Ok, ok...
And the winner is....

Country Whispers!!
Yay!!!
I hope you enjoy everything!!
Just send me an email (turtle3539@hotmail.com) with your full name, address, and t shirt size (I hope you'll get a shirt, I'm still looking for what I want!!), and I will get it mailed out to you!
Thanks for participating!! :)

Race Weekend at Talladega!

This was the 22nd time I have spent a weekend at Dega, and it was definitely one of the best! I went to the track both Saturday and Sunday. Lance couldn't come (Dega races are always the middle of either plantin' or pickin' season!), but look who came on Saturday in his place!

His mom! When she told me that she wanted to go, I don't think I would've been any more surprised if I had seen Elvis. I didn't even know racing was on her radar screen. At the race track with my dad and my mother in law, talk about strange! haha. Anyways, she seemed to enjoy herself!
This was our view of pit road during the Nationwide Series race on Saturday.

Sunday I got to visit with my favorite driver, Brian Vickers, while he was waiting to be interviewed on the Speed stage!

This is Brian (white shirt in the middle) posing with all his fan club members who were at his autograph session!

Overall, this was one of the best Talladega races I have seen! Of course, they are always pretty good when your driver doesn't wreck and gets a top ten (which is pretty rare at Dega)! Here is a video I shot from our front row seats!

That was 43 cars, only a few feet away, flying by at over 190 mph in 2 seconds!

Unfortunately, sitting on the front row also seems to be pretty dangerous!

This is a picture from www.al.com (I didn't take a picture because my mouth was hanging wide open, and I was a bit googly eyed) of Carl Edwards' wreck at the finish! This was about a hundred or so yards down the track from where we were sitting (we actually used to sit on the front row down there!). Fortunately, no one was seriously injured! Anyways, vacation is over, back to the real world of chickens, tractors, and work!

Bye Bye Birdies...Hello Bristol!

Our chickens were caught last Thursday at 7 pm and Friday at 4 am...Just in time to leave for Bristol! Here are a few photos from my race weekend!

Here's the view from our seats-top row, turn 1!

Do you think Carl can get past inspection with this?

Apparently the economy is also affecting Michael Waltrip. Here's his new hauler!

No tellin' who you might run into at the Red Bull trailer!

Keeping Lance fed requires a buggy this size.

No one cares Kyle Busch is leading, break out the blow up dolls!

To finish the weekend off...Junior Johnson's "Midnight Moon" Moonshine!
