This weekend, we had Reed's first birthday party! It was an ice cream party!
This was a smash cake I made for Reed before the party to take some pictures with...
We also had a hot dog table...
Chip n dip, cheese straws, and ice cream cone shaped pb&j!
On the goodie table there were ice cream cone shaped rice krispie treats...
Banana split bites (which were melting fast!)...
All kinds of toppings for the ice cream, and an ice cream cone snack mix (the tub in the back). The mix had caramel popcorn, m&ms, and caramel bugles. I put a marshmallow in the bugle to make it look like an ice cream cone. Some marshmallows I dipped in chocolate and sprinkles.
Fruit cones (which were a big hit!)...
And "ice cream" cupcakes! There were chocolate, vanilla, and swirl cupcakes. You can see the swirl cupcakes in the last picture. The cupcakes were put in ice cream cups I found at Hobby Lobby, and we stuck an ice cream spoon in the side.
We had sweet tea, lemonade, and a tub of bottled root beer and orange cream soda.
This was my favorite table, the favor table! I gave everyone colorful ice cream scoops I found at the Dollar Tree and the kid's goodie bags had bubbles shaped like ice cream cones, pop ice, ice cream cone stickers, and a cute ice cream bowl and spoon I also found at Dollar Tree. There was also a page to sign for Reed's scrapbook!
Reed started digging into the cake, and everything was going well...
Until he smeared it in his eye. (Should I be laughing in the background?)
After he got cleaned up, he went for round two with the cake. This time with his feet too.
We also had a ring toss game, which I made. I took labels off glass bottles, and placed them in a wooden crate. The "rings" are hose clamps!
Corn hole was also a big hit!
But, Reed's favorite part was opening gifts!
He wanted to play with all of them!
This was the look Reed gave us when we sang "Happy Birthday" to him!
It was a lot of work, but I think everyone had a great time!
I was just thinking that took you a lot of time to put together! I can't believe it's been a year already. Wow! You had some cute ideas there. Loved those cupcakes the most.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to little Reed!
Hugs,Debbie
Your party is absolutely precious-you took care of so many details.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you shared this all with us. It warmed my heart. I think there are so many that rooted & cheered for Reed from day one. I had my second girl around the same time Reed was born and I remember being up in the night praying for Reed. He is so, so very cute.
Hope this next year is a riot---it's all such fun stages coming up here---and this one year old business is something to revel in.
Happiest of Birthdays to you, Reed!
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteHow is it that he is already one?! It doesn't seem like it's been a year already. Gee whiz. ;)
