So Close...Yet So Far...

I haven't done a house building update in a while, and a lot of progress has been made since I last blogged about it, so here it is!
The outside is finished except for building the steps, painting the lattice, hanging the shutters, painting the front door, and pouring concrete on our patio/driveway apron. (Not much huh? haha)

Our garage doors have been hung, and the garage has also been painted and trimmed.

The hardwood floors have also been installed. We have hardwood in the kitchen, breakfast nook, dining room, and entry way. We still have to pick out a color to stain it with.

Here's our fireplace insert. There will be rock laid around it soon.

Our doors have been hung and painted, no hardware yet though. These doors are for the hall closets, the opening is to our bedroom.
Painting has also begun. This is our dining room. We will be sponge painting a lighter yellow over it to tone it down a little, but we have to wait until the builder is out of our way.
This is part of the kitchen/breakfast nook. It is the same color as the dining room, but the glare from the windows makes it look darker.
This is in our game room which will be decorate with my Nascar memorabilia. I will be putting a checkered flag border over where the blue meets the white.
Our laundry room is the same color blue as the game room. My washer/dryer is "turquoise sky" (they are the Electrolux washer/dryer on the Kelly Ripa commercial), and I hope to find a black and white tile to do the floor in.
So thats my house building update! Our builder is saying we should move in by the middle of October, but theres a long ways to go, so we'll see!

  1. It always takes longer than you think it will. We started our kitchen makeover back in the Spring. "A few weeks", I thought. We are just now finishing up trim. We could never 'build' a house. You're young! Yes, I like Fall too.
    It's coolin off here!

  3. VERY pretty Steph. Has the heavy rain slowed you down on your house and farming or did it miss you? I bet you are getting anxious to move in.

  6. Oh, Steph, it is beautiful.

I know you can't wait to get it done and get moved in.

    Congratulations.

Housewife tip: I saw you have a fiberglass shower. An easy way to keep it clean -- go to Wally World to the automotive department. In the aisle for the car washing stuff -- find something called Aqua Dry. Keep it in the shower.

After showering use the Aqua Dry to wipe down the shower --- takes about 2 minutes, max. If you do it everytime, you won't have to clean the shower so often.

About once a week, I throw mine in the wash, then hang it back in the shower.
