Sneak Peek

Nothing much new has happened on the farm since the "Progress Report" . The corn has been replanted from where it drowned, we're up to around 200 acres of cotton that has been planted, and even though chicken litter has been spread for like 3 days straight, the dry stacks are still full of poo. The only thing I haven't reported on is my mornings in the chicken houses. I plan on documenting that with pictures sometime soon! Try to contain your excitement!

Anyways, since news is slow, I thought that I would give everyone a peek at what our new house is going to look like! We found our houseplans at Planhouse.

It's called the "Wilmington"

Our house is going to be all white siding, with a green metal roof and matching green shutters.

Here is the inside...

We've made a few changes to the plans, but that's basically what the house is going to look like. We've decided to extend the roof to cover the patio, and we've taken out the fireplace in the master bedroom. We're going to use the study as our home office, and the formal living room is going to turn into a game room. Since I'm an only child, that guest bedroom might turn into an old folks home one day! haha.

My favorite part of the house is the wrap-around porch. I've always wanted one of those! Lance, of course, loves the 3-car garage, and I love that there's a full bath in there. No more smelling up the house with stinky clothes! And boy oh boy, do you see all of those closets in the hall? You can never have too many closets!

The builder hopes to start framing on Tuesday. I can't wait!

  6. What a fantastic design. I love, love, love the wrap around porch and the low profile of the house. The metal roof will be so beautiful and a nod to the traditional tin roofs that I remember as a child. I bet you are so excited. I'm anxiously awaiting updates.

  11. Stephanie,

Looks like the Perfect farm house to me. I love the porch. Will we be able to see it from the road? Congratulations and I hope we have just enough rain this summer to keep your crops growing and not slow down the progress on your new house.

  12. It's a little over 3000 sq ft without the porch or garage. Yes, you can see it from the road. It's actually right across the road from our farm shops. We've had some problems with tools going missing from the shops, so we thought that building across the road from them might cut down on that. Unfortunately, Lance's grandmother's house is right next door. My brother in law is living there now, but it's full of asbestos and bad wiring, so if they will ever move out (they've lived there 10 years, rent free), hopefully we can bulldoze it, and we'll have a bigger yard!
